Abstract

Teaching skills are those "micro-behaviours" that the effective teacher constantly exhibits when teaching a class. Effective teachers in the future will need to deal with a climate of continual change in which distance learning and other teaching media will become more prevalent. The "star teachers" of the future will be those who work to make what is now the best become the standard for all. Teaching effectiveness is important because effective teaching helps student learning. It has become even more important as the emphasis on quality in higher education has increased. Effective teaching does not occur by chance.
